From Humble Beginnings to a Community Lifeline
What started as a love for cooking, and a desire to help others, led Lana and her husband Roger to the streets of Penrith in 2013. After preparing meals for firefighters during the Winmalee bushfires, they realised there was a growing need for support closer to home.
Determined to make a difference, they began serving hot, home-cooked meals under the Station Street bridge, creating a safe and welcoming space for those doing it tough. From that humble spot, volunteers joined, and what began as a small act of kindness grew into Mama Lana's Community Foundation - an organisation that now provides not only hot meals, but also bedding, clothing, toiletries, and essential support to hundreds of people each week.
